B Family – Oak Rest Sunflower Farm

August 14, 2019

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees. . . I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby)

PSA: It’s August. Not only is it August but it is already almost halfway through August! Everywhere I turn, and every person I talk to… I either see, hear or I myself often exclaim out loud some form of “I can’t believe summer is almost over!”

But isn’t it always like this? I don’t know if it’s our extra long Wisconsin winters, our confusing and kind of non-existent spring, or just that summer goes way too fast for everyone. A lot of my friends’ children have already started school, which blows my mind! We have 20 more days. 20 more days to make the summer days count! We’ve swam, we’ve hiked (which led to a not-so-fun Lyme Disease scare), we’ve ate popsicles, we’ve sat in the sunshine, we’ve rode bikes and we’ve travelled to the east coast not once but twice… and still, it went SO fast.

While there are so many things to look forward to about the fall… and it actually makes my heart leap with joy thinking about it (changing leaves, hot coffee and cool mornings, chilly movie nights in, less mosquitoes)… I am still going to try to soak up these last few days, and this summer sunset session in the sunflowers gives me LIFE!! <3

After working on these beautiful images, I myself kind of want to dance in a sunflower field in a pretty dress, arms wide, soaking up the sunshine!! I probably won’t do it, but, hey, a girl can dream! This session is pure summer joy to me! Thank you B family for the 4th year in a row of entrusting me with your beautiful family images, and for bringing me to the sunflower farm!
