Michelle & Randy – The Abbey Resort, Fontana-on-Geneva-Lake, Wisconsin

Where do I even begin?! It’s been well over a year and a half since I have blogged, and I am also a week late on this specific post. Well… I guess technically, I am a year and a half late on everyone else’s blog posts too, but we all know what kind of year last year was… and, not to worry! Everyone has received their galleries since the last time I blogged! 2020 just took a LOT out of me… and I am sure it did you, too. However, during all of the chaos of last year, there were still some golden linings. Engagements continued, wedding planning forged on… my brides over this last year have had to put a lot of trust in their plans despite the unknown and I am happy to report, that every one of the weddings that I’ve been a part of since.. you know… all were still beautiful, loving days full of joy and fun. Michelle and Randy’s wedding was no exception!

I met Michelle at the gym that I teach group fitness classes at, Be Fitness in Delafield. She has been a regular in my class for longer than I can even remember now, and became my friend during that time as well. When restrictions eased up a little bit in the late summer, I got to know them both better and hear their story over drinks at the bar one night during a double date, and even more at their engagement session. When she asked me to photograph her wedding, I was so excited to say “yes!” Their beautiful June wedding was held at The Abbey Resort in Fontana-on-Geneva-Lake. This was my first time at this venue, and when I walked in, I knew right away that the images I shot there would turn out beautiful! The resort itself is huge and a little confusing to find the way around at first, but that really gives it a secluded feel and the resort, beach and boardwalk and marina itself have a totally East Coast vibe so I felt right at home there!

The weather was stunningly perfect for a June day in the middle of nationwide a heat wave… but I think it eased up for us a bit! We had so much fun, and I couldn’t stop smiling all day; I was so happy for my friends! I could probably write a lot more, but I don’t want to take up any more of your time… so here are the images!

One more thing before I go… along with my regular second shooter, Megan, I brought my new assistant, Ava, along for her very first wedding experience and she totally knocked it out of the park! I still remember how absolutely terrifying the first wedding I assisted at felt for me… and in fact, some of that fear never really goes away. We WANT to do a fabulous job so it seems to be, after talking to MANY photographers, that the pre-wedding anxiety is a super common thing. But, I was so glad to have her along, so excited to teach her the way I do things and I am so thrilled with how the images she captured turned out. I had told her there was NO pressure whatsoever… but you guys? The groom photos were all her and Megan… I had no part of that. And check out the beautiful macro ring shot! That was all Ava!
